Thomas M. Workman, PhD

Licensed Professional Counselor

I provide process-focused therapy to help change the mental and behavioral processes and habits that underly the various reasons that we seek help in counseling. We are often alerted to these painful patterns through relationships, anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, addictions, or scrolling. Once underlying processes and patterns begin to change, we naturally begin experiencing and responding to problems and pain differently. Acceptance and happiness become our new habit.

I have diligently practiced for 17 years to develop skills to facilitate this change. I provide a nonjudgmental space where we’ll develop insight into your processes and develop practical ways to transform them. I provide a balance of understanding, reflection, and coaching to help you move your life in the direction that works for you. I will be transparent, honest, speak directly, and integrate humor as we cocreate a warm and accepting environment to help you move forward.

In addition to directly providing clinical services, I develop courses that are used by the Commonwealth to train clinicians in evidence-based practices for anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, substance use disorders, and other mental health diagnoses. I am passionate about helping others through counseling and educating.

I have lived in Western PA for my entire life. I personally practice the treatment methods that I implement in counseling. Meditation and mindfulness practices are a core component of my life. Additionally, I enjoy woodworking, being active, and camping/hiking with my energetic daughter.
